Our voices are the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community that includes gay men and other men who have sex with men, sistergirls, transgender, women, youth, people who inject drugs, people in custodial settings, sex workers, and transient/mobile populations.
The ANA will

Provide leadership and coordination to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities are effectively represented at the national level regarding HIV prevention, treatment, care and support.

Prevent the spread of HIV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including among gay and other men who have sex with men, sistergirls/transgender, women, youth, people who inject drugs, people in custodial settings, sex workers, and transient/mobile populations.

Encourage, facilitate and maximise the participation of people living with HIV/AIDS in all activities of the Alliance, whether as office-bearers, representatives, employees, or in any other capacity.

Acknowledge and respect cultural groups and diversity within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and ensure the organisation’s work reflects this understanding.

Develop and advocate policies that supports the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people affected by HIV.
Ensure and promote broadly that all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living with HIV/AIDS have access to culturally appropriate education, treatment, care, services, peer support and resources regarding HIV.

Build and strengthen relationships with other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and networks relevant to the work of the Alliance in relation to HIV.

Advocate for an effective, vibrant, strong and sustained HIV workforce amongst the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Support members of the Alliance to promote effective and culturally appropriate outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people affected by HIV, including training and workshops.

Promote the right to health and wellbeing and freedom from stigma and discrimination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people affected by HIV.
